The world's second oldest rock mountain is the Tirumala
hills. The prehistoric and blessed temple of Sri Venkateshwara is located on
the seventh peak, Venkatachala of the Tirupati Hills, lies on the southern
banks of Sri Swamu Pushkarani. The sangam literature of Tamil such as
Silapadikam and Satanar's Manimekalai, dated between 500 BC to 300 AD, mentions
Tiruvengadam(Tirupati) as the northernmost frontier of the Tamil kingdoms.He is
also called the Lord of the Seven Hills.
